In my experience, when you are suffering from an injury or illness it is challenging to live life how you really want to and fully enjoy the moment. I have had my share of injuries and at the time I remember there always being a concern or worry constantly niggling in the back of my mind, manifesting as a feeling of negativity, which only on closer examination could I trace back to concern over the injury or illness I had. It was only with the discovery of complimentary therapies that a path of healing opened up that has subsequently allowed me to live the life I want to; including being an active sports person in my 50's without reverting to pain killers :-).
I break these therapies down into 4 key areas: the food I eat; looking after my body with movement and stretching (Yoga and Qi Gong for me); using acupuncture or osteopathy to recover from injury; following an occupation that I enjoy. It's like I have a toolbox which in turn gives me the confidence to know that injury or illness is only temporary.
So much is available in the UK and with a bit of thought, research and effort, we can all live the life we want to.
